Abue (WIP)

description
Abue is a recipe catalog based on my Mexican grandmother's recipes. Programmed using HTML/CSS, PHP, and SQL. I built it from the ground up, which means I used no libraries or references aside from a set of icons used for the buttons.
Work in progress. Code is currently hosted in the GitHub link below.
logo

Logo created in Adobe Illustrator. Needs refinement, but happy with the half sun concept common in mexican imagery.

Colors, fonts, sizes

Style guides created in Adobe Photoshop. Left option is the current look, with plans to adapt the right option as a form of optional “dark mode.”

portrait

My grandmother (Abue). Portrait created using vectors in Adobe Illustrator. I love her.

Prototype

Mock-ups created using Adobe Photoshop. Project still has many placeholder images and text, but most of the functionality and layout is complete.

There are two key features planned for this project:

A shopping planner. One of my least favorite parts about recipe hunting is scaling the ingredients and building a shopping list, but with a database of ingredients, Abue could do the math. Users need only specify servings and copy the generated shopping list.

Dietary restriction and allergen tags. I believe websites should be simple to understand and inclusive, so the recipe database will include filters for common conditions (eg: vegetarian, dairy free).
